It’s strange what a day of sleep can do. Not a literal day. I only got three hours. But I am trying to say that a moment of rest can really refresh your mind, you know? It’s a little break from reality, a little step back so you can breathe and enjoy the bigger picture at an arm’s length.
I always seek out two individuals when my heart feels wrought with grief, and that’s my mom and the Most High. For a while, I was concerned that I didn’t deserve to seek solace in Him since my mood had been so down, and because I was struggling to thank Him for what I already had, I didn’t deserve to turn around and ask for anything else.
But understand that kind of mentality is all in my head, and that’s not really the way things are supposed to work out. You can seek comfort in the Most High both when you’re feeling up and down. To thank Him for your breath. To talk about your day. Never feel as if there’s nothing you can’t go to Him for.
And really, all it took was one turn of a day. I’d been in that slump for a while now, but I think putting it all down on paper really helped me breath. My heart still clenches in mourning, though, even though I’m sad for something I’ve never had.
