BANGING HAIRSTYLE

I cut my bangs.

This is already hard to believe, as I’ve long since been so averse to scissors that I hardly even trimmed my ends. But lately, I’ve gotten comfortable with the blade; already I think I’ve cut about four inches off the ends- in addition to the breakage- but the front of my hair remained untouched.

My signature side bang grew to a whopping twenty-one (21) inches. It used to be 17, but I guess it caught up with the rest of my hair, which was also approaching the two feet limit. I used to dream of thigh-length hair, thick and healthy, but I’ve since grown so frustrated and fed up that I’ve since lobbed it all off. Not entirely, of course- I don’t think I have the bone structure to pull of a buzz cut- but what used to be really long hair is now just medium hair. My hair is no longer tied up in my identity, and in a way, I feel free.

I’m also free to explore new hairstyles. I never thought I’d be the one to have short bangs, but I did it- and I’m really excited! They do wonders for my face. Only thing is, I thought they would succeed in making me less approachable, but no dice so far. Oh well, we’ll see what else we can do to this crown of mine.

One day, I definitely think I will lob it off, but for now, I’ll enjoy my lustrous locks along with a flat-iron.

Anyway, back to experimenting! I can’t wait to try out the catalogue of punk and alternative hairstyles I’ve boarded on Pinterest. Back to the labor of the day I go!
